Mārgam Mārgam means a path. It is one full clear course where Bharatanatyam dance items are performed in a traditional order. The items that are included are Alarippu, Jatiswaram, Shabdam, Varnam, Padam, Tillana and Shloka. However, according to some scholars, it does not mean that these are the only items that can be performed. There are other traditional dance items that can be included like the Pushpanjali, Kauthukam (Kauvutvam) The format of the margam was created in the early 19th century by four brothers, who were famous musicians, dancers, poets and nattuvanar of Tanjore, known as the Tanjore Quartet. #bharatanatyam #margam #repertoire #goodtoknow
